Handlung (Spekulationen) 1969: Single-Mutter Liz trifft einen charmanten und sehr hübschen Jurastudenten. Beide verlieben sich ineinander. Doch während den ersten, glücklichen Jahren ihrer Beziehung entführt, vergewaltigt und ermordet Liz‘ Freund eine Reihe von Frauen in unterschiedlichen US-Bundesstaaten. Sein Name: Ted Bundy. Er wird mehrfach verhaftet und muss vor Gericht, aber erst 1987 spitzt sich die Lage für ihn zu. Ankläger fordert die Todesstrafe, während Bundy alles abstreitet und behauptet, es gebe einen Komplott gegen ihn. Bis zu diesem Prozess hält Liz, inzwischen mit ihm verlobt, fest zu Bundy. Sie glaubt, ihn langsam nicht mehr zu kennen, liebt ihn aber nach wie vor. Und die Frage ist, ob sich daran selbst dann etwas ändern würde, wenn auch sie ihn als das sieht, was er ist: ein Serienkiller, der Frauen getötet hat.
